Nails and color

If you are living in Buenos Aires, you’ll probably are freezing as me, meanwhile the guys who live in the north hemisphere are enjoying of very hot days and sandals. Actually, it really doesn’t matter the weather that you have in your city, because there is always a need to have a great manicure and especially if you are using sandals.

Today, I am going to tell you about the trends of nail polish for both groups, because there are great options that only a few years ago would have been unthinkable and now there are perfectly accepted. And I am talking about flashy colors, graffiti designs, or nail polish with texture.

For the summer the colors go from a very simple French manicure, a great nude or a very sexy red. There is not only one trend, this season offers a wide open range of colors where the warm tones are the protagonists of the season (pink, red, orange, yellow, etc). There are also another fun options were you can add texture or a specific design for each nail.

If you are living on the south hemisphere winter is coming, so the colors that rule are the cold tones. The green become the king of the season, followed by the cranberry, blue (from the light to the very dark), red, gray, brown, violet and black.

The glitter is allowed for every color and also if you want to mix it with various colors or just wear it alone. There are also metallic tones as golden or silver.

As you can see there is a big variety of colors that you can choose, where ever you are, for summer or winter. The more important of all is that you have to choose a color or design that match your personality and the kind of activities that you are going to have. It is not the same to have a manicure for a party than to go to work.

Have fun, make your own creation and always have a perfect manicure showing your style.

See you soon!

Note: The nailpolish presented are from OPI and Sephora.

A day of shopping in Buenos Aires

Last weekend we had a previous of what is going to be the winter here in Buenos Aires. It was freezing! So, with out giving too much of a thought, we just pull out from the closet the coat and the gloves. And since it was very cold outside, I went to the mall to see what can we buy here in Buenos Aires for the season.

I have to say, that I found a lot of great things, but I was quite shock with the prices, what is going on??? Everything is very expensive! And it is not that I just like to complain, comparing the prices with other countries is crazy here.
I have always being amazed with the originality of the Argentinean designers, it is completely different from what you can buy in Miami (where all of the Argentineans love to go for shopping), but I really believe that his time the price they are charging is quite expensive.

Now, you have to know that the mall was packed … and the reason of that was that in every single store you could find credit cards promotions that give you discounts of 25 to 40% and also you can pay in 3 installments with out interests. So, as you can imagine, that is the way that everybody buy and I guess that is the only way until the crisis pass.

So, after complaining about the prices, I am going to tell you about the fun part of my visit to the mall. I found great variety of design and color, and this time I will show you the maxi-dresses that I found in almost every store and it seams to be a must for the season.

First let’s see the designs of Maria Cher, she uses light fabrics and woven dresses. Her style is very elegant but not classic, she always includes some details that make her clothes kind of irreverent.

Vitamina use printed gauze for this model and they mixed it with a sweater of an original print. For those who are afraid of mixing prints, look at this example and how good it looks.

Rapsodia is a brand that always mixes color, textures and prints in their designs. The style of their collection is a mix of hippy and Indian. Here we can see three examples of maxi-dresses with different accessories. I specially love the leather jacket.

Wanama present looks more hippies but they’re almost a tribute for the Indians of North America. The prints and colors are fun and again, here we have another interesting mix of prints, look at the dress with stripes and the scarf with animal print. As you can see here is a maxi-sweater, it is not exactly a maxi-dress but I just loved it!

With this little mall-tour, you can have an idea of what you can find in Buenos Aires. As you can see there is a big variety of designs, fabrics and prints and it’s definitely a trend the long skirts and maxi-dresses which are good to protect us from the cold and also to help us to hide all the extra pounds of the little sins that we eat to stand the cold!

Have a great week!

See you soon!

A little red carpet information

Here I am again, I want to apologize for my long absence, almost 2 weeks … but I was away because I broke my legs and I am on wheel chair. I know it sounds worst than what it really is, but it’s nothing serious because I have what is called a “stress fracture” which means that I just have smashed my bones it is not really broken. But still, I cannot walk because the bone heals just as a real fracture, and it is very painful. So … as you can imagine, the past two weeks I wasn’t in the mood of doing anything.

So here I am again and I am going to present you a little summary of red carpets, events that happened during May: the MET gala (Metropolitan Museum of New York) on May 7th and the Cannes Film Festival from the 16th to the 27th of May.

First lets talk about the MET gala, this year was to celebrate the opening of the exhibition called “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations”.

As you can imagine, there was a big variety of styles among the dresses that used the celebrities but let’s talk first about the long-tail dresses.  The best for me was the one from Renée Zellweger and the worst was the one from Beyonce who is back in her size but I think it was too much transparency for her curves.

Some of the best dresses for me were the ones from Camilla Belle, Claire Danes, Cate Blanchett and Marion Cotillard. The first two dresses were very elegant and classy in white and nude, love the hair, the dress and the whole outfit.

Cate and Marion used black but again, totally elegant and as you can see Marion is using transparencies but just in the right places.

Regarding the Latin girls, this dresses were great! As usual Sofía Vergra showed her great body, and Eva Mendes and Gwyneth Paltrow (who is too thin!) made a little tribute to the designer from the exhibition of that night.

These three actresses are usually among the best dressed in every event, but this time I think none of them chose the right option. Cameron Diaz used a dress that made her very square, no waist. Sarah Jessica Parker used Valentino but from the last century, not at all sexy as she usually is. And Scarlett Johansson forgot to stop in the hair dresser before arriving there, and that dress … not the best.

Now the horror – show, here are the worst dresses from my point of view. The worst was the one from Mary-Kate Olsen and even worst is that she designed that, and that hair, what was she thinking? Christina Ricci had a very nice dress with out that thing on the back, is bigger than her, and looks funny. And Karolina Kurkova who has such a great body, chose to use this “mermaid” dress which left me … speechless.

Now lets talk about the Cannes Film Festival, as every year during the festival there are a lot of events to promote the movies and short films that were in the competition.

The first person that I want to present you is Diane Kruger, she was jury this year and I just love her outfits which as you can see are completely different for each occasion, she kind of become a chameleon, her looks were very different each time.

Eva Longoria and Salma Hayek were invited to the event and both left a very good impression with her looks. For me this year Eva was one of the best dressed of the festival, as you can see she looked stunning in the red carpet.

Salma looked good but something was wrong, don’t know if it was her make-up, she was not as pretty as she usually is.

One of the biggest deceptions for me, regarding her outfits, was Nicole Kidman. Look at her tinny little body and her plastic face, what happened to her? She used to be perfect, so beautiful … and now she looks weird. Nevertheless her movie “The Paperboy” caused a great impression among the jury and critics, which showed that she is still a great actress but please stop the botox and the diets!

Any way, hope you enjoyed this red carpet summary, and I promise to be back every week as I used to be, but now and for the next month …. from my wheel chair.

See you soon!

Packing for a business trip

I can’t believe that suddenly we are in May …that was fast? Don’t you think? And also with out noticing I am on day 25th of my diet, remember the 30 day plan? So far the diet and exercise had been amazing, with good results (3 kg, almost 7 pounds!!!). I do almost 2 hr per day of exercise, which is heavy, but the diet is really nice because it includes all the recipes that are easy and delicious! So … only 5 days to go!! Which me luck!!

Now, talking about plans and how time just go by, today I am going to give you some tips for a situation where you usually do not have much time to think or plan. I am talking about the business trips; I am going to give you some tips in order to pack your bag in a more efficient way.

→ The first thing is that usually you have a tight schedule, which means that every second that you can save is gold! So try to use a carry-on instead of a big suitcase, this will save you the time of waiting for your luggage.

→ Your carry-on has to be light, avoid heavy suitcases that will take the few kilograms that you are allowed to use.

→ Make a list of your activities, split them in formal and informal reunions, and then create outfits that can be easy to mix with your accessories, so you can use the same shoes, belt, bag or coat but nobody will notice because the other things are different. Or maybe you can transform and informal outfit to a formal one just by adding accessories and changing your make-up. The best for business meetings is to wear neutral colors, which are easier to mix and combine.

→ Be practical, buy a little beauty kit for travel with small bottles for shampoo and creams, do no travel with the super saver bottle that you have in your shower! Remember that you have to save kilograms in every single detail. Also remember that you are only allowed to pass bottles of 100 ml to the airplane.

→ Regarding the shoes, use a fabric or plastic bag, never pack them just like that, they are dirty and you want your clothes to be clean.

→ One key detail is to put all your underwear in a separate closed bag, it will be even better if is not transparent, so when ever security open your bag you don’t have to bother about catching your panties from the floor or the table.

→ Now, the most important of all is how you actually pack your things. The key is to use every single free space, and I am not saying that in order to do that you just have to make little muffins of your clothes, no, we want them to arrive with our wrinkles. So you have to pack in layers trying to cover all the spaces but with things that match that space, maybe shoes, a belt, etc.

Hope you will find this tips useful and you can also apply them when you pack for your vacations. Eventhough for that kind of trip you usually have more space, always be practical. Avoid taking hundred colors that will require hundred accessories for each day, apply the same principles that I mentioned here, and you will see how you can survive with less things and still look amazing!

See you soon!

A guilty pleasure …

Today I am going to talk about one celebrity that I like a lot and that lately had been very creative and fashionable with all the things that she wore in her show. I am talking about Jennifer Lopez in American Idol. Yep … this is a “guilty pleasure”, I am not proud to say it, but … I like American Idol! Ha ha … I enjoy the first stage where they choose the participants and then I just can’t stop watching the concerts until the end.

Ok, after making this confession, let’s move to fashion and I will show you some of the outfits that she had used in the concerts because they have been awesome, of course it helps a lot her body which is just amazing, in general she knows perfectly what is good for her.

Let`s start with the latest, this Hervé Léger (Max Azria designer) Spring collection 2012. As you can see, it is super sexy and please look at her abs! And she already is a mother of two … I love how she looks; my only doubt is if his kind of super sexy dress is right to be a judge in American Idol or if it could be better for a performance? What do you think?

This is my favorite, perfect color, perfect design; love her hair, all I can say as that she looks amazing. It’s a Roland Mouret.

This one is not really one of my favorites, love the color but I am not crazy with the design, but I have to recognize that she looks great. This is a Michael Kors.

This Lanvin is just perfect, very elegant and fun design. This is from the 2012 Resort collection form Lanvin.

Here you can see how a very simple dress makes her look amazing, this is a Blumarine, Spring 2012 collection.

She is wearing a Dolce & Gabbana, Fall 2012 collection, and here I wanted you to compare JLo with the model, I really believe it looks better with more curves, don’t you think? This is not my favorite but she looks great again.

As we can see, JLo knows that the orange is a color that goes perfectly with her skin tone, so here is a Victoria Beckham dress. I love the stripes it looks very modern and elegant due to the pencil skirt.

This black dress is very sexy showing just strategic areas and leaving the rest to the imagination. It’s very elegant and the designer is Catherine Malandrino, Fall 2012 collection.

Not everyone can wear a jumpsuit, but last week she wore this beautiful Gucci.

And I wanted to keep this one for the end, because nobody is perfect and I believe this was not a good option for her. This is a Randi Rahm dress, but it is not doing anything for her body, looks even little childish. But … looking at the other outfits, one mistake is nothing, don’t you think?

See you soon!
